Moment of Glory

So last week during my A3 class (my best 8th grade class) a kid named Paige (I have a good rapport with him) said while they were copying sentences down, "I hate BYU fans." Some other kid said, "Oh, so you hate Mrs. Merrill then." Glancing at my BYU football poster, then me, he said, "Oh, except for you Mrs. Merrill, you're the exception." I couldn't resist, it just came to me: I graciously said, "That's okay Paige, usually I hate ugly people, so you're the exception to that too." Cries of "TEACHER BURN!" (way worse than a regular burn) rang throughout the classroom. Paige laughed and I couldn't help laughing too. Even this other kid Clayton said something like, "Mrs. Merrill, if I had to pick the best teacher burn, that would be it." Ah, sweet victory.
